Shahrooz Beheshti

Say 'dorood' to summer intern Shahrooz Beheshti. That is how Shahrooz might be greeted or greet someone in his native country of Iran. In the U.S. for less than two years, Shahrooz is still trying to adjust to a new culture and language. We may be biased, but we think choosing the south was a good idea. After all, we southerners speak slowly and we're super friendly! We may think it's hard to understand his translations of Persian phrases into English but we wonder if he can translate 'ya'll' into Persian??

Shahrooz is currently in a three-year masters program at Clemson, working on a degree in Architecture + Health with a graduation date of May 2018. He brings an interesting perspective to his studies given that he practiced architecture for a number of years in Iran, first for three architecture firms and then on his own. While "form follows function" is a common architectural principle regardless of country, it is a necessity in Iran, where land is precious and economics dictate absolute efficiency in functionality. By contrast, Shahrooz is finding that, both in academics and practice, there is a greater focus on aesthetics in the U.S., leading to much more freedom in design. We think he'll find that community healthcare architecture strikes the perfect balance of aesthetially pleasing but cost-effective form with optimal functionality.

When Shahrooz isn't busy working or studying, he enjoys going out with friends, movie nights, and visiting new cities. He's up to 16 cities so far. Just 19,535 to go!

Welcome Shahrooz.
