JJCA participates as ACE mentors
May 23, 2017 JJCA Office News

ACE mentors from JJCA-- Stefan Balcer, Halie Anderson, Travis Parker, Stephanie Pielich, and Will Parker--coached a team of 18 students from five Williamson County schools in their project for this year's competition. In keeping with the competiton theme of 'resilience' the team designed and built new podiums for the Special Olympics of Tennessee to use in their summer and winter games.

The students held a design charette, participated in Owner reviews, and broke into structural, architectural and materials teams to determine the final design and cost per podium. Their nested podium design incorprates a ramp that can be attached to any of the three podiums and also locks the three podiums in place for transport. The entire ACE team did an incredible job with the project. Three of the students received $2,000 scholarships for future study.

The podiums got their first workout at the 2017 Summer Games held on the Lipscomb campus May 20th!
