In our recent visit with Salama Urban Ministries, Rachel, Shelby and Micah shared some insight with a group of middler school kids about architecture. Kids learned about the process, from planning and design through construction, and coordination. Their questions ranged from why we wanted to be architects to what a day in the life of an architect looks like. At the end of the presentation, we split the kids into teams and gave them a few design criteria and asked them to design and build a shelter in 20 minutes, with a winning team selected based on their presentation and design. There might just be some future architects in the group!
