No ordinary rural hospital, West Park serves not only the 9,000 or so residents located in and around the Bighorn Basin, but also tourists from around the world who find themselves in need of medical services at some point during their visit to Yellowstone National Park. The hospital began a multi-phase process back in 2006 that, when complete, will have involved numerous new construction, relocation, demolition, and renovation projects designed to modernize the hospital's acute and critical care, long-term care, and medical office facilities. A striking new single main entrance leads to an efficient core services area that marries existing infrastructure with vastly improved separation of staff, patients and visitors.
