Envisioning Affordable Housing

Several years ago, we got involved in a project in our home city of Nashville that has become near and dear to our hearts. In fact, the Envision Cayce project - revitalizing and significantly expanding the city's largest low-income housing development into a mixed-use, mixed income community - has awakened a desire in our firm to add a practice group focused specifically on affordable housing.

We've been involved in a number of projects related to the huge, multi-year, multi-phase Cayce project, from master planning to design of a school, as well as providing program management for Kirkpatrick Park. As part of the Kirkpatrick project, David Johnson used his expertise in navigating the HUD financing process to assist MDHA in securing their first ever HUD 221(d)4 loan, a low-interest federally-insured loan specifically for housing projects.

So David, whom you might spot in the video found here, was very happy to represent JJCA at the recent grand opening of Kirkpatrick Park Apartments, the first mixed-income development in the Envision Cayce project. We look forward to our continued work on Cayce and to expanding our involvement with the important societal issue of improving the stock of affordable housing.
