Topping Out CenterPointe Hospital
May 4, 2018 JJCA Projects

The groundbreaking for the CenterPointe Hospital in Columbia, Missouri back in February 2017 was truly groundbreaking for the area. That's because it is the first stand-alone behavioral hospital in the area, addressing a significant need for behavioral health services in the surrounding community. So it was exciting for JJCA's David Brown and Travis Parker to attend the recent "topping out" ceremony on April 17th as the evergreen was placed on the last beam of the new $21 million, 56,000 square-foot hospital. The 72-bed hospital will offer both inpatient and outpatient services. Providing both a buffer between the hospital and the surrounding neighborhood and a comforting, natural setting is a 1.3 acre tree preservation area.

Did you know that the topping out ceremony was originally a Scandanavian tradition to appease the gods? Today builders use this tradition to symbolize new growth.
