On Friday, April 4, the Tennessee College of Applied Technology (TCAT) Nashville reached a significant milestone—the Topping Out of its new Allied Health Building. With the final beam raised high, this moment marks Turner Construction’s completion of the building’s structural frame, bringing us one step closer to a new home for TCAT’s standout nursing and dental technology programs.

Set at the front of campus along White Bridge Road in Nashville, the $22 million, 33,000-square-foot facility will provide tailored space to meet the technical demands of Allied Health training. But it's doing more than that—it's creating a fresh face for the campus and making a bold statement about the future of healthcare education.

The Topping Out ceremony itself carries a special tradition. For centuries, builders have placed a small tree atop the final beam to symbolize good fortune and a safe construction journey. The practice dates back to 700 A.D. in Scandinavia, where tree spirits were honored when forests made way for new buildings. Today, that evergreen remains a gesture of respect and celebration—a green sign of progress.

For Linda Mark, this was more than just another project milestone. “In all my 22 years working with JJCA, I’m always excited to see this construction event,” she shared. “Watching that beam rise—it just hits you. This is more than steel and concrete. It’s about shaping futures.”

Our planning journey included close collaboration with TCAT faculty to align needs, options, and budget. The result? A facility designed with purpose, rooted in partnership, and reaching confidently toward the future.

Stay tuned as this landmark project moves toward completion. We’re proud to help TCAT Nashville take this exciting step forward.
