Doug McMillan, CEO of West Park Hospital in Cody, Wyoming, recently forwarded us an email from, Denise, a staff member at the hospital. Denise had seen tourists from a tour bus parked at the Buffalo Bill Museum across the street “taking pictures of our beautiful hospital.” According to Doug, he often hears comments about how beautiful West Park Hospital is.

Who says a community hospital can’t be both functional and attractive? Of course we want the design of a hospital to facilitate the highest level of patient care. That means attention to details like ease of wayfinding, careful planning of the adjacency of departments, and creating a flexible master plan that supports long term growth. But let’s face it: when it comes to first impressions, the appearance of a hospital does matter! I mean, wouldn’t you rather feel like you are checking into a resort than booking a stay at a no-tell motel when you have to spend time recuperating in a hospital?

We’re proud to have worked with West Park Hospital to design a welcoming hospital that is as appealing on the outside as it is healing on the inside!
